You have landed in the right place.
Background
The first match between India and South Africa was reduced to 40 overs but still the game went to the wire where Indian just fell short of the total.
South Africa started their innings cautiously with De Kock scoring yet another 50.
But as soon as couple of wickets fell, Heinrich Klassen and David Miller took charge helped SA reach a respectable total.
Klassen and Miller scored 74 and 75 respectively in rapid fashion.
Chasing 250 in 40 overs, India needed a quick start in the Power play but the top order fell cheaply leaving India at 51-4 in 17 overs.
Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson rebuilt the innings with the hope of chasing down the total.
Both Shreyas and Samson have shown sufficient class to be contenders for a spot in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup.
After Shreyas got out after reaching his fifty, Samson decided to up the ante along with Shardul Thakur.
However, Samson’s 86 off 63 was not enough to take India across the line as they fell 9 runs short.
South Africa would be pretty happy with their performance in the first match given the fact that they scored a decent total and then defended it well in the end.
For India, the performances of Shreyas and Samson are a good sign but it is rather unfortunate that both of them won’t be able to find a spot in the Indian team currently.
Skipper Dhawan would like to get some runs under his belt as fell early in the 1st match.
Dhawan’s limited overs track record has been pretty good this year and this series is the perfect opportunity for him to hit some form.
As for the team news, Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of the series due to stiff back and will be replaced by Washington Sundar for the rest of series.
South African team will be without Pretorious for the remaining ODIs and possibly the WT20 as well because of a fractured thumb.
