The second and final Test match of the series between India and Sri Lanka is going to start from the 12th of March at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

After whitewashing Sri Lanka in both the ODI and T20I series, team India is also looking for a whitewash in the longest format.

India convincingly wins the first match of the series by a huge margin of an innings and 222 runs.

Ravindra Jadeja was the star for team India in the first match as he not only scored an unbeaten knock of 175 runs but also claimed a 9 wicket-haul in the 1st Test match and was declared the Player of the Match.

The journey of leading India’s red-ball side has started brilliantly for Rohit Sharma with a massive win in the first match.

Although Rohit Sharma himself didn’t perform well as a batter but his leadership was excellent that helped India to continue their magnificent home record.

It was a very special Test match for the former skipper Virat Kohli who was playing his 100th International Test match which is a proud moment for him and his family.

The star batsman scored 45 runs in the first innings but unfortunately, he wasn’t able to convert it into a big one and the wait for his 71stInternational hundred continues.

India will be keen to complete their clean sweep in the Test series and claim some crucial World Test Championship points.

Hence, they will not make any big changes in their playing 11 for the second match.

Team News

The Indian selectors have decided to release Kuldeep Yadav from the squad ahead of the second Test match and the left-arm spinner Axar Patel has joined the Test squad for the second match.

Axar Patel was earlier not picked in the squad due to an injury but now he has recovered and joined the team in Mohali.

Axar is making a come-back into the side, he last played a Test match against New Zealand in Mumbai a few months ago.

Possible 11

Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal will again open the innings for team India and this time both of them will be keen to capitalize on their good starts and score some big runs.

Hanuma Vihari has become the new number 3 batsman of team India and he will again bat at no 3 spot in the second Test match followed by Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant.

The two veteran all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin will bat at 7th and 8th position and Axar Patel will come at the number 9 in place of Jayant Yadav so, India’s batting lineup will become more stronger and longer.

Mohammed Shami and Jasprit! Bumrah will be two pacers for India at numbers 10 and 11.

Hence, Axar Patel will be the only change in team India who will replace Jayant Yadav in the final match.

Here is India’s probable lineup looks for the second match.

Rohit Sharma, Mayank Agarwal, Hanuma Vihari, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Muhammad Shami, Jasprit Bumrah.
